The Oklahoma Sooners catapulted to the top of the Bowl Championship Series rankings with a convincing victory over the previously top-ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers in Norman. Quarterback Josh Heupel passed for 300 yards and a touchdown for Oklahoma, which spotted Nebraska 14 points in the opening seven minutes, then roared back to win 31-14. Heupel's 34-yard touchdown pass to Curtis Fagan tied the score 4:08 into the second quarter, and Josh Norman's 8-yard touchdown run opened a 10-point advantage 2:41 before halftime. In all, the Sooners scored 24 points in less than 12 minutes of the second period.
Derrick Strait returned an interception 32 yards for a touchdown early in the third quarter, and Oklahoma coasted the rest of the way en route to its seventh victory of the season without a defeat. Nebraska's loss, coupled with Georgia Tech's upset of Clemson, left Oklahoma, Virginia Tech, and TCU as the nation's lone unbeaten major college teams after October 28th.
Oklahoma would continue to remain unbeaten, and OU finished the season 13-0 with a National Championship win over FSU.
