[Get Poofs - Not Puff]

[The Mailbag]

I Weep For the Children Who Are Our Future...

Here you go...the much anticipated "Please Puff Daddy, Ruin This Song Too" mailbag... I've been collecting letters (pro and con) sent to me about my anti-Puffy web site for over a year now -- and here it is -- the best of the best. The Hall of Fame (or Shame?). Some are intelligent, some are downright scary, and most could use a little program called spellcheck.

But first.....

From the "Death to the Spice Girls FAQ" located at http://www.vianet.net.au/~jee/faq.html:

Q: Why did you waste your time on making a hate site?

A: Well, that would be because its an anti-site. As opposed to a worship site. simple.....I wasted my time, because it kept me and others entertained, I've said what I wanted to say and I suppose that's all I ever really wanted to do. If you really have a problem with it, go away, don't give me lectures on wasting time, because you'd be wasting yours.

So, not sure what a browser's "back button" looks like?

If you don't like what you're reading - click it - and leave!

Q: Why don't you do something more positive? The world is already so full of negativity as it is! Why contribute to it?

A: I refuse to take any responsibility for any of the ongoing wars, natural disasters, annoying people that won't go away and various misdeamours occuring at the moment. Why don't you go and do something more positive than whining to me? Because, you're not going to get this page to go away now. I mean this. Go whine to someone who cares (ie. yourself.)

Oh and lighten up! There's more to life than all this, its not like I'm actually going to kill them! This isn't my all-consuming passion, and it takes very little of my time to maintain, etc. etc.

Please keep in mind that all letters have been edited to remove curse words (which are against GeoCities Terms of Service). My standard reply is: "Thank you, drive through..." I can only waste so much of my time replying to all the Puffyphiles out there, before words just start failing me...and I end up with a big ol' keyboard imprint right on my forehead...

[ Note from site owner: Hmmmmmm...I never realized Puffy was a "romodel"... I stand corrected! ]

I'm a huge Diddy fan, so obviously I have a problem with the "anti" sites... But yours is thought out quite well... Everybody is entitled to their own opinion and you have yours and I have mine... Just wanted to point out two things though:

1) Every rap artist through time has sampled... Difference with Diddy is instead of sampling from old funk songs of Parliament (a la Dr. Dre for instance) or from disco songs of the 70's, Diddy uses "white" songs to sample from which are more recognizable to the common person's ear. So even though we think he samples more than others, he's not doing anything really different than other rap producers/artists.

2) On his new album, as a response to critics, there are NO musical samples on the album. There are a few lyrical samples, like on the single "DIDDY" which takes its chorus from the old song "JIMMY," but no "stolen" beats...

Otherwise, a pretty good site

S. Diddy (and no I wasn't S. Daddy until a few months ago, my friends actually gave me that name a couple years ago)

You say your childhood friend is black. So what? That doesn't make you a
racist? I know of many white people who hate blacks but love Michael
Jordan's skills. I know black people who love Clint Eastwood but hate
white people in general with a passion.

The paucity of your logic is alarming to the point of disbelief.

Finally, I find it interesting that you chose a list full of whitey
songs that you dare Puffy to ruin.

Maybe I should dare some white artists to murder classic Bob Marley
tunes like Poor old Eric Clapton did. Boy George just about wrecked
"Everything I Own" by Ken Boothe.

No one is complaining. When Denzel gets cheated year in year out we just
move on with our lives even though racism is there to see.

Puff Daddy borrows like most others do. One thing is for sure he adds a
new flavour to the sound and makes it more enjoyable for the people with
the "natural sun tans"

I mean how many black people do you hear cussing whites about how they
wrecked our music called rock and roll and turned it into an entity that
is very unbearable.

Elvis was a big time thief of Black Music. Why not go admonish him?

The final analysis is that your site is a bit immature. Yes you have the
right to do what you please but I wonder if you are about10 or just have
the mind of a 10 year old.

It wouldn't surprise me.

Keep hating Puffy. I am sure it hurts him. And what is it with this J-Lo
foolishness? She is worth what? 2 mil to Puffy's 500? I do trust that he
could have found a much better looking lady than her with that kinda
money. For him to date J-Lo was no big deal since she was up and coming
and he was already IT.

The man has talent. Remember Mary J's real love? Then again.....You are
stuck in the 80s. I bet you have the attire to match.

Let Puffy be. He does whatmakes him happy. You are persona non grata as
far as this goes.

Live with it.

Bubye!

[ Note from site owner: You obviously did not read my site all that closely, or you would see that I do just that. Fortunately I rarely watch MTV (only MTV2) and listen to mostly MP3s at home, and the local alternative station, so I'm not confronted with that choice often.

This site was designed in 1998, and other than the mailbag and mentioning when I receive press, it has been updated exactly ONCE since then to change the logo. I get requestes for "what did Puffy steal in this song?", "what were the lyrics in...?", "what's the title of this song?" all the time. I can't answer those questions exactly because I DON'T LISTEN TO HIS MUSIC. Thank you...drive through... ]

I saw the site a couple times. I don't think much of the arguement either
way, however, I liked the way you pointed out to one writer that if he
dosen't like your website then he shouldn't complain but use the 'back'
button on his browser.
I'd just like to point out in very much the same way that many televisions
and radios are now cleverly equiped with 'on/off' buttons. I think u get my
point. What's the use telling him what to do when he's just doing what you
yourself do.
Peace.
