There is drama in the birth of a new century that inspired me to search for a transformative wedding garment. Dreams of radiant swathes of gorgeous white descending into a long train filled my imagination. A strapless ball gown was not a silhouette, however, that I would have thought flattering for my fuller figure. Yet, there was a lightness and youthful quality about its design that captured me. The fabric, an antique white silk organza, had a certain lustrous sheen that was both elegant and fine. The fitted corset slimmed my middle and upheld smartly my ample feminine attributes. The dress was both bare and modest. A ruched cummerbund of Duchess satin and anchored with handmade silk rosettes edged its Basque waistline. I was truly resplendent in the finest costume of love. Upon first glance, my husband said with hushed tone and adoring gaze, ”You are absolutely beautiful!”
